Kids Come First at King George VI!  Our caring and dedicated staff welcome our students, ensuring they are safe, cared for and ready to learn on a daily basis. We thank our community donors for supporting our Healthy Breakfast and Snack programs.

King George VI Public School has 255 students and offers Full Day Early Kindergarten and classroom programs through to Grade 6. We are proud to welcome an engaged group of families and parents as volunteers, supporters and partners in educating our students. Students in our Grade 4 to 6 classes will be using Chromebooks in the classroom and at home to improve the connection between classroom work and homework in the evenings. We are excited about the use of technology in our school to improve educational opportunities for students. We rely heavily upon our families to promote Internet safety and positive digital citizenship when supervising the use of school-based Chromebooks at home. Our classroom teachers participate in regular professional learning specifically aimed at reducing achievement gaps and providing effective instruction designed to meet student need, whatever our students' starting points. When necessary, our Intervention and Resource Teachers provide small-group instruction for students requiring additional support and assistance with skills in reading, writing, speech, and math. Our families help in this daily work by making sure our students are in attendance, well rested and ready for learning.

King George VI hosts quality Special Education programming for special needs students in our Kenora area, promoting life skills, gross motor therapy, and communication supports. Our Education Assistants are a warm and empathetic team, providing quality care and supports for our shining stars at King George VI!
